London is the most desirable city in the world to work in, according to a global survey of more than 200k people from 189 countries.
It found 16% of those surveyed wanted to work in London.
While it may seem like good news for London-based employers, one of the study’s co-authors said it meant they would need to take a more global approach to recruitment.
International director of totaljobs.com Mike Booker, one of the study’s co-authors, said: “In light of this report, employers must take a more global approach to recruitment. As the workforce is so mobile, companies will have to compete globally to attract the best talent, making sure that they target the right groups and differentiate their recruitment strategy.”
The UK was the second most desirable country to work in, after the US, with 37% of respondents saying they would like to work in Britain.
It also found 64% of people worldwide would move abroad for work while only 44% of Britons would do so.
The survey was compiled by job board totaljobs.com, business adviser The Boston Consulting Group and The Network, a global alliance of more than 50 recruitment websites.
